iOS 17 is the 17th update of the operating system used on Apple iPhone devices, and it’s available to download from today (09/18/2023) to your compatible iOS device.

What is iOS 17?

iOS is the operating system that runs on Apple iPhone devices, and iOS 17 was announced at the company’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on June 5, 2023, and has been available as a BETA download since this announcement. It was released to download publicly on September 18, 2023.

New features in iOS 17

iOS 17 introduces a number of new features and improvements, including:

  • Contact Posters: You can now create a custom Contact Poster that will be displayed when you call or text someone. You can choose a photo, Memoji, font, and font color.
  • NameDrop: NameDrop is a new feature that allows you share contact information with another iPhone user, simply by touching the top of your devices together. .
  • StandBy: StandBy is a new mode that allows you to use your iPhone as a bed side clock, showing a couple widgets on-screen. This mode is enabled when your iPhone is on charge, and positioned horizontally.
  • Live Voicemail: Live Voicemail allows you to listen to your voicemail messages as they’re being left. You can also transcribe your voicemail messages to text.
  • FaceTime video voicemail: You can now send and receive video voicemail messages in FaceTime.
  • New Siri voice recognition model: iOS 17 introduces a new Siri voice recognition model that is more accurate and natural-sounding.
  • Huge improvements to autocorrect and dictation:iOS 17 also includes huge improvements to autocorrect and dictation. Autocorrect is now more accurate at correcting mistakes, and dictation is now more accurate at transcribing your speech to text.

In addition to these new features, iOS 17 also includes a number of performance and stability improvements.
